What We Believe

What does the Nazarene Church Believe?

At North Mountain Church, we are first and foremost followers of Jesus Christ.

We believe in one God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe the Bible is God’s Word, that Jesus died and rose again, and that through Him we can experience forgiveness, new life, and a restored relationship with God.

We also believe that following Jesus is about more than simply believing the right things. God wants to shape our lives, change our hearts, and help us become more like Jesus in the way we love God and love others.

North Mountain Church is part of the Church of the Nazarene, a Christian denomination with roots in the Wesleyan tradition. One of the things Nazarenes especially emphasize is God’s ability to transform us. We believe His grace not only forgives us, but continues working in us through the Holy Spirit, helping us become people who increasingly reflect the love, character, and holiness of Jesus.

You do not need to understand words like “Nazarene,” “Wesleyan,” “holiness,” or “sanctification” before coming to North Mountain. Those are simply words Christians have used to describe something much more personal: God loves us enough to meet us where we are, and He loves us enough to keep changing us.

Do I need to be a Nazarene to attend?

No, you don’t need to be a Nazarene to attend and to participate in community with our church!

Some people who come to North Mountain have followed Jesus for many years. Others are returning to church after being away for a long time. Some come from non-denominational churches or other Christian traditions, and some are still figuring out what they believe about God.

Wherever you are coming from, you are welcome here and invited to experience the love of Jesus Christ! We are excited to meet you!
